The Alpinestars Tech-Air® MX is a fully autonomous airbag system engineered specifically for motocross and supercross riding, delivering advanced upper-body protection without compromising comfort or mobility.

Backed by more than a decade of research, testing, and real-world development, the Tech-Air® MX represents Alpinestars’ most advanced motocross protection system to date. It is the world’s first fully autonomous airbag designed exclusively for motocross and supercross, redefining rider safety in high-impact off-road environments.

Tech-Air® Inflation Protection

When a crash is detected, the Tech-Air® MX airbag deploys in an ultra-fast 28–37 milliseconds (depending on chest protector size, Small to Large). Once inflated, the system provides up to an 82% reduction in transmitted impact energy compared to conventional passive chest protectors.

The airbag also protects the shoulder zones during deployment, even though no rigid passive protection is present in these areas. This innovative design allows for full freedom of movement and unrestricted riding under normal conditions.

The Tech-Air® MX System is CE Category II certified under the 686/89/EEC European PPE Directive and complies with EN1621-4:2013, ensuring proven impact protection performance from 40 milliseconds up to 5 seconds after full inflation.

Premium Chest Protection

The integrated chest protector combines premium materials with an innovative dual-technology design, using both Honeycomb Technology and Polyhedron Cell Technology. The result is a passive protector that is highly ventilated, lightweight, ergonomic, and extremely durable, ideal for demanding off-road riding conditions.

Nucleon Plasma Back Protection

The back protector features Alpinestars’ new Nucleon PLASMA technology, offering exceptional protection in an ultra-lightweight, flexible, and highly ventilated construction. This enhances overall comfort while maintaining outstanding impact performance.​

Tech-Air® App & Smart System Activation

The Tech-Air® MX System comes pre-loaded with four riding modes:

  • MX

  • MX Race

  • Enduro

  • Rally

Bluetooth connectivity allows riders to easily update the system via the free Tech-Air® App, ensuring access to the latest software updates and crash-detection algorithms.

System activation is effortless—simply attach the left buckle of the airbag system to the chest protector. An internal magnetic switch automatically powers on and activates the system. Detaching the buckle automatically turns the system off.

Easy Re-Packing & Maintenance

The Tech-Air® MX is designed for quick and easy re-packing after deployment. Clear folding instructions are printed directly on the airbag bladder, allowing it to be neatly reinserted into the shoulder strap and ready for your next ride.

A quick-release inflator cover enables fast and simple gas cartridge replacement by the rider. The airbag bladder is engineered to withstand over six deployments before requiring replacement.

The system also features automatic deflation, using a built-in deflation mechanism located at the lower back of the bladder.
